Petite suite

Piece for 16 interpreters

Through this small suite I would like to share with young amateur dancers from Corréze (aged from 15 to 26 years old) an encounter between contemporary dance and the traditional music from the centre of France that I made for the work ‘Le Golem’. I would like to help them to experience the energy that I felt in this music made for dancing, the bourrées both crude and elaborate, which can be a motor and catalyst of a dance both invented and reinvented, sharpened and precise.

I approached the notions of interpretation, of accuracy and of sincerity with these amateur artists in a manner so that their state during the moment of performing becomes the reflection of a necessity to dance.

I gave the responsability to the dancers and musicians themselves of doing the chroreographical work which had been dictated, a piece of their own born from their encounter and from their feelings. It started from a work in construction that I had envisaged, then followed by an ambitious gamble (that of disappropriation), to finish in the creation of a small suite which belongs to them.
